I thought I had figured out the perfect blogging topic, until I realized I didn’t. I craft. It is what I do, so naturally, I felt writing about crafting would be a perfect outlet. However, after doing research into zero waste living, I realize that my crafting choices need drastic changing.
I am embarrassed to admit that I only recently learned the dirty little secret about synthetic clothing. Every time we wash synthetic clothes, microfibers go into our water supply. Okay, okay, so we have probably heard that before, so what are microfibers? Microfibers are actually tiny plastic particles that are poisoning our water and food supply. Wow, insert instant panic attack from this athleisure obsessed mama. Yeah, I am coming for your yoga pants! *gasp* I knew about the plastic epidemic and I was moving at a slugs pace towards a plastic free challenge to try to reduce my footprint, but the more and more I was reading, the more and more I began to panic. The situation is URGENT! We need to do something NOW!
I will still be crafting, but I will be documenting my transition to a zero waste lifestyle. Most of my crafts will be catering towards this transition.
I want to kick off this transition with plastic free July. I will be posting more information on my plastic free July challenge soon!
